Desktop Client Install and Update

Installation

The installation of the client does not require administrative privileges and thus can be done by the users themselves. Moreover, the client is available to download for every user from your pascom VoIP software server. For more information about our VoIP Software solutions, please visit our website.

Downloading the software from the pascom VoIP phone system server does not require authentication. Just select the Clients tab on the pascom login screen (Older phone system versions have a service tab). pascom UC CTI client downloads

Windows Desktop Client

  1. Firstly, download the .exe file from your pascom phone system server
  2. Save the file
  3. Next, there are various options available depending on your requirements:

Standard Installation

  • Once the download is finished, double click the file to start the standard installation.

Desktop Installation Using Admin Rights

  • Once the download is finished, right click the .exe file and select run as Administrator.
Commandline Options

Example:

pascomClient-setup.exe /S /D=C:\client
Parameter Explanations
S Enables an installation in to run in the background, without displaying any dialog windows.
D=PATH
  • Enables the defining of the installation folder, i.e path
  • This parameter must always be the last parameter in the command line
  • Supports only absolute file paths

Terminal Server Installation Using Admin Rights

It is sufficient to install the pascom client once on a terminal server (in order to save disk space etc) as it can nevertheless be used by all users.

  • Once the download is finished, run the command prompt as an Administrator (or specify accordingly within the software distribution)
  • In the command prompt, run the installation command.

Example:

pascomClient-setup.exe /D=C:\Program Files (x86)\pascom Client

Parameter Explanations:

Parameter Description
D=PATH
  • Enables the defining of the installation folder, i.e path
  • This parameter must always be the last parameter in the command line
  • Supports only absolute file paths

To update, the client must be redownloaded and once again installed using Admin rights.

Mac OS

  1. Download the .dmg file from your the service tab on your pascom server login screen.
  2. Save the file
  3. Once downloaded, double click on the file and the installation process will start.
  4. Drag the pascom icon (red) on to the Applications folder
  5. As soon as the copy process has been completed, you will be able to start the client

Linux

For Linux systems, we provide a classic installer.

  1. Download the tar.bz2 packet from the service tab found on your pascom server login mask
  2. Unzip and run the packet by using the following Shell command:

    tar xfvj pascomClient-x.xx.xx.tar.bz2
    ./md_client/bin/md_client

Windows Desktop Classic Client

  1. Firstly, download the .exe file from your pascom phone system server
  2. Save the file
  3. Next, there are various options available depending on your requirements:

  • Once the download is finished, right click the .exe file and select run as Administrator.

Terminal Server Installation Using Admin Rights

It is sufficient to install the pascom client once on a terminal server (in order to save disk space etc) as it can nevertheless be used by all users.

  • Once the download is finished, right click the .exe file and select run as Administrator.
  • After accepting the licensing terms, you will be prompted as to whether the installation is intended to be done on a Terminal Server or not. Select Terminal Server and then click Next until the installation is finished.

To update, the client must be redownloaded and once again installed using Admin rights.

pascom Mobile Client

Pairing Process

  1. Add and assign a mobile device to a user by selecting the Via Mobile Hub: Integrated mobile phone option under Devices > Device list > Add > in the pascom phone system admin web UI. Alternatively, when you add a new user via the pascom web UI (Users > User list > Add) ensure that the Has mobile phone is set to Yes (per default yes) and this will automatically add a mobile device to the device list and assign it to this user.
  2. Download & install the pascom mobile app for Android (PlayStore) or iOS (AppStore) on to the users smartphone or tablet.
  3. As soon as the install has finished successfully, open the pascom mobile app and click on Start.
  4. Select the required mobile device under Devices > Device list in the pascom web UI and click Edit. Finally, click Pair.
  5. Using the users smartphone / tablet, scan the QR-Code as displayed in the pascom web UI.
  6. Enter the device’s mobile phone number using the international dialing format and click Continue. Leave this field empty if you do not wish to use the GSM telephony function.
  7. Once the pairing process has finished, the pascom mobile app can be used on the mobile device.

Per default, end users can perform the pairing process independently of the system administrator. To prevent end users from performing the pairing process themselves, set the user configurable FollowMe settings for this device User configurable to no.

Classic Clients

The corresponding Classic Client for your pascom PBX is delivered with your pascom phone system and can be always be updated from there.

pascom Clients

Up to Version 17.09

The corresponding pascom Client for your pascom PBX version is delivered with your pascom phone system and can be updated from here at anytime.

In addition, it is also possible to download your pascom client from our Download page.

From Version 17.10

The pascom Client now retrieves updates via my.pascom.net using an HTTPS connection, and no longer directly from your pascom phone system. The correct version as per phone system version release date can however still be downloaded from the phone system itself.

Update Channels

From the pascom Desktop Client version 17.10 onwards, so called Update Channels will be available to you.

These can be found within your Desktop Client under Settings > About pascom client > Channel.

Per default, the STABLE Channel is selected - this contains the same version as the STABLE version available on the download section on our website.

It is possible to switch to the BETA update channel at any time.
It is also possible to add a different update channel if recommended by pascom support.

Should you wish to switch back to the STABLE update channel from your own channel or the BETA update channel then all your user profile settings will be revert to default as this normally refers to a Desktop Client downgrade.
