Asynchronous Communication

What is Asynchronous Communication?

Within the field of telecommunications, Asynchronous communication is a data transfer method whereby the exchange of messages is undertaken without the aid of a synchronised clock or time source meaning the reading and responding is completed as schedules permit rather than according to a clock that is synchronised for both the sender and receiver or in real time. It is usually used to describe communications in which data can be transmitted intermittently rather than in a steady stream.
